Way back in the late 1700s. June 14th is said to be the day which the first batch of bourbon was distilled. It may only be a legend but, whatever the truth of this is, Bourbon Day is surely a day worth celebrating.
In the spirit of Bourbon Day, I put together a delicate recipe using a powerful yet tamed Whiskey by @Fewspirits. This bourbon comes in with bold charred oak notes that hold up well in a long drink like this one. Paired with lemongrass and lime leaf Bianco Vermouth it is sure to settle you in for the perfect evening after a long day.
Sycamore Tree
- 1 part FEW bourbon
- 0.75 part Lemongrass & Lime Leaf Infused Bianco Vermouth
- 0.25 part Orange liqueur
- 0.25 part Amontillado Sherry
- Top w/ soda
Method:
For the cocktail, measure all ingredients accordingly in a tall glass filled with ice, top with chilled soda until preferred dilution is achieved.
Garnish with orange and lemon peel.
For the infused Bianco Vermouth, cut one stalk of Lemongrass into managed pieces and add to a blender with five lime leaves. Measure 500ml of bianco vermouth and lightly blend the mixture to bruise the lemongrass and lime leaves. Allow to infuse for 12 hours and strain using a coffee filter.
